1.  Usain Bolt beat his controversial rival Justin Gatlin by just one-hundredth of a second on Sunday as he retained his world 100m title in a race billed as a battle between clean sports and doping.

2. As the Colombo Test headed towards its decisive fifth and final day, Kumar Sangakkara had a rare opportunity of making a glorified exit from international cricket. Into his final innings, Sangakkara was batting on 18, and was looking rather confident before the moment every Sri Lankan dreaded arrived. A dipping delivery from Ravichandran Ashwin, a nick and a catch safely pouched.

3.  The Indo-Swiss tennis combine of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis lost their women's doubles semifinal, to crash out of the $2,701,240 Cincinnati Masters, following a three-set defeat.

4. Tiger Woods kept his bid for a first title since 2013 on track on Saturday with a two-under par 68 that left him two shots behind third-round leader Jason Gore at the Wyndham Championship.
