1. The water situation is grim as the total storage in 91 main reservoirs across the country has gone below the last 10-year average ,says the report of the Central Water Commission (CWC).The reservoirs currently hold 91 billion cubic metre (BCM) water, which is 58% of their total live storage capacity. During the same period last year, these reservoirs had 103.5 BCM water. The current storage is also less than the last 10 years' average storage of 98.7 BCM.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made "remarkable" progress in his first 15 months in office by rolling out a red carpet for foreign companies, but the infamous red tape in India continues to pose hurdles to investments, the White House has said.

3.  Three days after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi gave a call for the return of "kurta-pyjama sarkar" instead of Modi's "suit-boot ki sarkar", Union HRD ministerSmriti Irani, who lost narrowly to him in Amethi Lok Sabha polls, on Sunday alleged that a trust run by the party's first family 'fraudulently' purchased 65-acre land in Amethi meant for a bicycle factory.
