1. In what could be a wake-up call for the Centre to fix weaknesses in the Swachh Bharat initiative, nearly 71% respondents in an online poll conducted by a social media group feel cleanliness in their cities and towns has not improved much in the past one year and want a greater municipal-citizen connect. 

2. Ahead of the bi-monthly monetary policy review,RBI Deputy Governor Urjit Patel on Thursday said that sustained low inflation over medium- to long-term is necessary to bring down the cost of fund. 

3.  US Federal Reserve chief Janet Yellen late on Thursday almost made it sure that her counterpart in India, Raghuram Rajan, the RBI governor, gets the leeway to cut rates in his next policy review meeting later in the month. On Thursday night, the US Fed chief decided to keep interest rates in the world's largest economy unchanged. 

4. Municipal corporations' claim that Delhi witnessed less than 2,000 dengue cases and five deaths as on September 12 is totally misleading. Records accessed by TOI show that AIIMS, Safdarjung, Lok Nayak, St Stephen's and Sir Ganga Ram hospitals alone have treated more than 2,400 dengue cases this season
