1.  PM Narendra Modi on Sunday said he wanted to see UAE emerge as India's foremost partner in trade and counterterror measures, describing the country as a paradise built in a desert with "unmatched vision". 

2.   The days of domestic helps, mostly women, toiling away for a pittance may soon be over with the government giving final touches to a national policy which will prescribe a minimum salary along with other benefits like compulsory paid leave every year and maternity leave. 

3.  Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday approved an anti-terrorism law that sets up special courts and provides protections to its enforcers in the face of a two-year-long insurgency that aims to topple his government. 
4.   After a surprise defeat in January - in no small measure due to the overwhelming negative vote against him by Tamils and Muslims - Rajapaksa is attempting to do a Putin in the island nation by seeking to assume the recently empowered post of Prime Minister.
